The big thing from Apple as of today, the Pro Display XDR and Mac Pro 2019 were setup for pre-orders this week. While the whole setup was priced too expensive, Apple has clearly indicated that this model is intended for specific users only. As normies like us couldn’t afford anyway. Not doubt the Pro Display XDR is cool. It’s 6K display with 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio and 1600 bots of peak brightness is something that creative artists need for making magics. Adding to that premium device is a nano-texture glass over display, which costs an extra grand. This prominent display in combination with a Mac Pro as grand CPU is a masterpiece setup for any artist. But, what if it’s not compatible with one of their best recent models? Stephen Hackett from Relay FM has tweeted about iMac Pro not being supportive of this latest display. He tweeted about the list that the Apple website has as compatible devices with Pro Display XDR, which did not include iMac Pro.

This PC isn’t found in the list of supportive devices for Pro Display which made fans notice about iMac Pro’s capabilities. It is a bit odd that the iMac Pro has both thunderbolt 3 and a dGPU but no compatibility. This is likely it uses Intel’s “Alpine Ridge” Thunderbolt 3 controller, which is older and didn’t have enough bandwidth to drive a 6K display. But, Thomas Grove Carter, a video editor has soon proven that iMac Pro can drive the Pro Display XDR, but is limited to 5K resolution only.

Mac Pro (2019) with MPX Module GPUs 15-inch MacBook Pro (2018 or later) 16-inch MacBook Pro (2019) 21.5-inch iMac (2019) 27-inch iMac (2019)
All these Mac models are running on macOS Catalina 10.15.2 or later. Further, any Mac model with Thunderbolt 3 ports paired with Blackmagic eGPU or Blackmagic eGPU Pro are supported too. Besides pricing the display and CPU at staggering prices, Apple has made headlines for pricing its Pro Display stand alone for $999! Further, a recent announcement of asking their users not to use general cloths or papers for cleaning/wiping the Pro Display XDR, but to use their proprietary cloth for doing so. If they’ve lost it, it’s advised to order another.
